Shameka Spence, an articling student at Hicks Adams, demonstrates a strong dedication to criminal defence and social justice. A graduate of Ontario Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Justice, Shameka’s academic background has provided her with a solid  foundation in justice practices and criminological theories.

While attending Lincoln Alexander School of Law, Shameka actively participated in the Transformative Justice Working Group, addressing socio-political injustices and supporting marginalized communities. Her hands-on experience at various legal clinics allowed her to refine her skills in advocacy and client communication, equipping her with practical insights and a nuanced understanding of the legal field.

At Hicks Adams, Shameka is focused on gaining practical experience in criminal defence. This role will allow her to further develop her advocacy skills and navigate the complexities of client representation with confidence. With her unwavering commitment to justice and her expanding legal knowledge, Shameka is eager to contribute significantly to both Hicks Adams and the broader legal community.
