Miruna Mureseanu is one of the firm’s articling students for the 2024/2025 term. She obtained her LLB from the University of Kent Law School and her LLM from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in the GPLLM program. During her legal studies, Miruna was actively engaged in co-curricular programs that focused on oral advocacy, like Mock Trial and Mooting. Similarly, she also developed her legal research and written advocacy skills by undertaking two dissertations, as well as co-authoring a report for the International Human Rights Program at the University of Toronto. She also gained practical experience by shadowing and participating in volunteer programs at local courts. In conjunction with the theoretical knowledge gained in courses like Criminal Law and Evidence Law, Miruna developed a passion for criminal defence. As an articling student at Hicks Adams, Miruna will get the chance to learn about various practice areas in Criminal Law and continue developing her written and oral advocacy skills. Her time at the firm aims to prepare her to begin her own journey in criminal defence once she gets called to the Bar.

Before law school, Miruna completed an Honours Bachelor of Science at McMaster University. There she majored in Life Sciences and minored in Psychology. It was during her time there that she first started developing her research and writing skills. Through courses like Forensic and Abnormal Psychology, Miruna gained a deeper interest in the legal field and specifically the intersection between the law and psychology.
